Ingredient Breakdown
Making red-robin garlic fries is super easy. You will need a few simple ingredients. These are:
- Frozen steak fries: You can’t make garlic fries without fries, can you? I honestly just use whatever brand is on sale, though Red Robin does have a pre-seasoned option. You can use any other brand as well. Whatever is available o you easily.
- Oil: You can use cooking oil or any other oil. I usually use olive oil or avocado oil.
- Paprika: Paprika brings the spices with a hint of sweetness. You can also add smoked paprika or cayenne pepper.
- Seasoned salt: You can use any seasoned salt. Because we are making garlic fries, I prefer using garlic salt.
- Butter: Butter gives the fries a new dimension. You can choose salted or unsalted butter. However, if you are adding salty butter, don’t add salt separately.
- Garlic: Minced garlic adds garlicky and savory flavor to the fries.
- Parmesan: Delicious parmesan cheese is a perfect choice to finish off the fries. Its nutty flavor adds so much depth to the fries.
Variation ideas
Although garlic fries taste so delicious, they have a perfect savory flavor. However, if you want variation, here are a few spices you can try:
- Italian seasoning: Italian seasoning include dried herbs like oregano, rosemary, thyme, and basil. These are aromatic and adds so much flavor to the fries.
- Jerk seasoning: This Jamaican spice mix is made from several different aromatic spices. It has a bold and rich flavor and is perfect to spice up the fries.
- Black Pepper: Add a sprinkling of black pepper to kick the flavor up a notch
- Turn them into loaded fries – add some more cheese, bacon, etc.

Do I have to use frozen french fries?
If you would rather use homemade steak fries, you are certainly welcome to do that. I can’t give you specific instructions on how to adapt the recipe though!
Should you use Red Robin frozen steak fries?
You certainly can! If you do, they are typically pre-seasoned, so you will want to skip the extra seasonings listed in the recipe.
Can I make these in the Air Fryer?
I have not made them in the Air Fryer yet, but I am quite certain you can! I would just follow the instructions and instead of putting them in the oven, put them in the Air Fryer instead!
Where can you find frozen french fries in the grocery store?
They are typical with all the frozen potatoes, which are often in the same aisle as the frozen vegetables. However, all stores are different. If you are having trouble, I’m sure a grocery store employee can help you. I also like using the grocery store apps for stores that I go to because they will usually tell me right where to go!
What sauce is best with these fries?
There’s really no wrong answer! They are quite flavorful, so some may argue you don’t even need a dipping sauce. However, ranch dressing is always popular, as well as an easy garlic aioli. I don’t like blue cheese, but I know a lot of people do, so that might be another good option!
I also love Red Robin’s campfire sauce, which is pictured with the ones we made. I’ll try and share that recipe another time.
How are these different from the red robin steak fries?
They get kicked up a notch with a garlic butter sauce and shredded parmesan cheese!
What are steak fries?
Steak fries are fries that are thick cut. The cut is so thick that it resembles potato wedges. The best thing about this cut is that they are mouthful and wholesome. They are crispy from the outside and slightly tender from the inside. The balance is just right, and the taste and texture are on spot.
Although you can cut potatoes to make steak fries at home, why bother when you have premade frozen fries? Red Robin gives you high-quality steak fries. Each piece is cut to perfection, and the sizes are uniform. Plus, the texture is perfect. These are the most convenient fries ever!
Do I need to use fresh garlic?
I do recommend using fresh garlic in this recipe. It makes a difference! But if you are in a pinch, you can certainly try and use garlic powder. I have not done this myself.
Where can I buy Red Robin frozen steak fries?
This will vary depending on where you live! I have seen them at the Kroger affiliate near us as well as at Walmart.
Can I use the Red Robin seasoning?
While we tried to replicate the Red robin seasoning recipe in this, it’s not exact. So you can definitely use a container of it if you’ve purchased some or find another recipe online. You can buy it on Amazon or in-store!
How can I make these healthier?
You could use a little olive oil instead of vegetable or canola oil or just completely forego the oil and use a cooking spray to coat the frozen fries?
Can I use cheddar cheese insead of parmesan?
Well, you could, but they wouldn’t be garlic parmesan fries anymore, would they? If you’re looking for other fantastic cheese-based recipes like the Chick-fil-A Mac and Cheese that has been a hit with my family and friends, you might want to explore a classic favorite like homemade macaroni and cheese.
