Tools I Used

  • My Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer (a Bosch works great, too. The dough gets pretty thick, and a Bosch tends to handle that better in my experience!)
  • Whisk Attachment for my Kitchen Aid
  • Bread Baking Mat – I LOVE mine. It’s big and make it so easy to roll out and cut the dough.
  • I used this bench scrape to cut the dough
  • Joseph Joseph Rolling Pin – it’s the best!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3 tbsp salted butter
  • 1 Tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 6 1/2 cups bread flour, up to 1/2 cup more or less, divided
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp salt
  • Melted butter (for brushing the tops)

Instructions

  1. Bring milk to a boil. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  2. Mix yeast and water together and let sit for about five minutes.
  3. Add eggs, sugar, honey, 3 1/2 cups flour, and milk. Mix a few minutes.
  4. Add butter, salt, mix well.
  5. Add additional flour, 1/2 cup at a time until the dough is firm and slightly sticky, separates from the side.
  6. Knead dough for about five minutes. Place in a greased bowl, cover with greased plastic wrap, let rise until doubled.
  7. Punch down to release air. Place on a lightly floured surface and roll out to be about 1/2 in thick.
  8. Fold dough in half so it’s one inch thick. Seal together with a rolling pin. Cut into 2 inch squares.
  9. Place squares on a baking sheet, cover loosely with greased plastic. Double in size.
  10. Bake at 350F for 15-20 minutes. Brush immediately with butter.

Can Texas Roadhouse rolls be frozen?

If you want to make the dough beforehand, go ahead and wrap it in plastic wrap and store it in the freezer the night before. You can bake it the next day. Or, if you bake them but don’t eat them in one day (impossible!), wrap them in foil and store them in the freezer. I don’t recommend leaving them in there for more than 3-4 weeks. The fresher, the better with these rolls.

  1. I thought I was the only one who goes to Texasroad for the rolls lol.

Also, I don’t have a stand mixer BUT I do have a bread maker. Could that work to mix and knead the dough instead?
