How to make Pull Apart Cheesy Bread

Every time I bring this cheesy bread to any event, people ask me for the recipe, and they are so shocked when I tell them how easy it is to make. The hardest part about making it is having to wait a full 20 minutes until you get to eat it!

First, you slice the bread so it has convenient little pockets for cheesy goodness. (Don’t stress too much about these being perfectly even though! I promise it will still taste the same if one section is a quarter inch off.) Then prepare your cheeses. This is so simple to do and is a great assignment for any little kitchen helpers.

Once you have everything prepped, all you have to do is stuff the cheese into the bread. My kids really love helping with this part! And if bread and cheese weren’t enough to make this amazing, we throw some butter on top! Sounds delicious, right?

Can you make Pull Apart Cheesy Bread ahead of time?

Yes! This is what makes it such an amazing recipe to take to gatherings. You can slice the bread and stuff it with the cheese. Then, wrap it up in foil and store in the fridge. When you’re ready to serve, just pour the melted butter on top, and bake for 20 minutes.

What can I pair Cheesy Bread?

Just about anything! My family loves to eat it with spaghetti and lasagna. It also goes really well with soup. There isn’t much that is more comforting than cheese covered bread dipped in hearty soup on a cold day.

You could even turn this into an appetizer for game day by serving it with marinara sauce to dip it in!

Where do I find artisan bread?

I always find it in the bakery section of our grocery store. Sometimes there are a few different flavor options. Just pick the one that sounds best to you!

If you’re having trouble finding artisan bread, you could even try this recipe out with a loaf of sourdough bread!

I don’t have all of these cheeses. Can I just use more of one of the other cheeses?

The short answer to this is – Definitely! Although you can absolutely make substitutions, I strongly suggest considering what cheese to use more of. Take gruyere for instance. It’s delicious, but it can be very strong. If you use more of it, it is very likely to overpower the flavors of the other cheeses, but that might be fine if your family really loves gruyere! It all depends on what you and your family like most.

Oh no! I’m out of butter! What do I do?

Don’t worry! Hope is not lost! You can easily substitute olive oil. Just drizzle it over the top the same as would with the butter.
