4-Ingredient Maple Glazed Carrots Recipe
Maple Glazed Carrots are tender and sweet and the perfect side dish to share with family and friends. Glazed Carrots are simple to prepare and simmered in a sauce of maple syrup and butter!
Glazed Carrots are one of my favorite vegetables to make and to serve! They take little to no effort and they turn out tender and delicious every time. Plus, they are fairly inexpensive and I always have the ingredients on hand.
I’m pretty sure once you make these Maple Glazed Carrots you won’t ever go back to preparing them any other way. They almost taste like candy – and they are the perfect side dish for many meals.
What are the best kinds of carrots to use?
I prefer to use large, fresh carrots that I then cut into coin-sized pieces. You will want to first peel the carrots and then slice them into 1\2 inch button.
You can also use baby carrots (whole) or frozen sliced carrots that have been thawed.
What type of maple syrup did you use?
I just used Kirkland brand. It tastes great and is affordable! You can use any brand that you like, though.
What do I serve with Maple Glazed Carrots?
These maple glazed carrots would go well with pretty much any meat or poultry dish, but especially something like ham or roasted turkey. It’d also be nice served over a baked potato or rice pilaf and topped with parsley and green onions.
What’s the difference between “baby carrots” and regular carrots?
Baby carrots are, as the name implies, baby-sized and immature and thus tend to be more tender and sweeter than their larger counterparts. Regular carrots are mature vegetables with a tough outer layer that requires peeling or chopping before cooking or eating raw. They also have a larger core.
Why do you recommend peeling the carrots before cooking them?
I recommend peeling the carrots before cooking them because it makes for a better texture in the finished dish. Also, if using organic carrots (which I always try to), they sometimes have a wax coating on them which needs to be removed. Peeling is the best way to do this.
How long can I keep leftover maple glazed carrots?
Leftover maple glazed carrots should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. They can be served at room temperature or reheated over low heat on the stovetop, stirring frequently just until heated through.

How to reheat maple glazed carrots?
You can reheat them in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds to ensure that they do not burn or dry out. You can also place them back into a saucepan and cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently and adding additional butter or cream as needed if it gets too dry.
Can I make maple glazed carrots ahead of time?
Yes. To make ahead, prepare the carrots as directed but do not add the brown sugar maple syrup mixture until you are ready to serve. Add those ingredients and cook until the glaze has reduced into a thick sauce that coats the carrots nicely. You can then place it in a crockpot set on low while you’re away if desired.
What if I don’t have maple syrup?
You can use honey or corn syrup as a substitute for the maple syrup. You can also try using brown sugar mixed with a tablespoon of water to give you the same effect without having to spend extra money on ingredients you might not need.
Can I make this recipe vegan?
Yes, if you don’t want to use butter and instead opt for a vegan-friendly oil, such as grape seed or canola. You can also omit the brown sugar and just cook the carrots in maple syrup if desired. Enjoy another vegan richness of a homemade syrup recipe with my strawberry syrup that goes well with anything you pair it to.
Is it bad to eat uncooked carrots?
It’s not necessarily bad to eat raw carrots but they do have quite a bit of natural sugar in them so I usually recommend eating them cooked rather than raw.
How long do cooked carrots stay good for?
You will want to store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
To reheat them you can warm them slowly on the stovetop or in the microwave. Add a pat of butter to your leftovers as they warm up.
