Halloween Cheese Ball Recipe – Witch’s Hat Style!
This is such a fun Halloween food idea that is great for the whole family! This homemade cheeseball in the shape of a witch hat will be the talk of your Halloween party! It is so easy and delicious too!
How to make a cheeseball for Halloween
A couple sentence introduction of the recipe.
What can you dip in cheeseballs?
My favorite thing to eat cheeseballs with is crackers like Ritz crackers, Wheat Thins, or Chicken in a Biskit. If you are looking for a healthier option, you can use celery, carrots, or other crunchy vegetables, or use some hard toasted bread. It is also really good with pretzels or pita crisps. The possibilities are endless! Try everything!
Can I use different cheeses?
Of course! Almost any kind of cheese is fair game to use in cheeseballs. Cream cheese acts as a great base and adds a creamy component to the cheeseball. Then you can add in any cheese that will hold its shape and is not crumbly. Almost any cheese besides crumbly cheeses like parmesan or cotija can work.
Tips?
When making cheeseballs, it is best to keep the ingredients at room temperature. This makes it easier to mix the flavors together. I like using cream cheese as a base and adding in Velvetta cheese and shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Velvetta cheese’s softness helps with the mixing and tastes great. This mixture also makes it easy to form into the witch’s hat shape that makes it so fun for Halloween.
Ingredients
- 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
- ½ pound Velvetta cheese, room temperature
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups crushed blue corn tortilla chips, plus additional whole chips for serving
- Red bell pepper strips
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together all of the ingredients until completely blended.
- Using plastic wrap, shape the cheese mixture into a cone, wide on the bottom and
narrow on the top. Refrigerate until ready to serve. - Remove the plastic wrap and roll the cheese ball in crushed tortilla chips.
- Transfer to a serving plate. Place the remaining whole tortilla chips around the cheese
ball like the brim of the hat. - Press strips of red bell pepper into the cheese ball where the cheese ball meets the
chips. - Serve with crackers or vegetable dippers.
