Before you cook your corn on the cob you will want to husk them first. It simply means you are removing the outer silky, leaves and tasslels off of the corn.
You can do this by pulling from the top of the silky tassel and pulling straight down in one firm tug. Be sure to removed any remaining silky strings.
How to pick the best corn on the cob
Whether you are picking corn on the cob from the grocery store or the farmer’s market you are going to want to make sure it is sweet and delicious! And choosing your corn is not as hard as it might seem.
First, you’ll want to check the husk to make sure it is bright green and freshly damp. You can even check the husk for small brown holes, which mean insects have been there and should be avoided.
The silky tassel at the top should be light brown or gold and smell sweet.
If you give the corn a good squeeze, the kernels should feel firm- not soggy or soft.
