What Air Fryer do you use?
I have a Cosori Air Fryer and LOVE it! It’s a great air fryer.
What are some variations I can do with these rolls?
While we love these homemade rolls in the simplest fashion, there are lots of fun ways to dress them up a little bit:
- Try adding some shredded cheese to the top of the rolls before cooking
- Brush them with a little garlic butter to make garlic rolls
- You can also add some dried herbs to the dough before shaping it into rolls.
- Top with parmesan cheese
- Add poppyseed to the top
- For a more golden crust, you can brush an egg wash on top of the bread dough before you put them into the air fryer instead of egg.
- Brush with butter and cinnamon sugar for a delicious treat
Do you use salted or unsalted butter?
I always use salted, but if you are wanting to cut back on salt, you should just use unsalted butter and add extra salt if needed.
How can I make my frozen rolls rise more quickly?
Rhodes has a “speed thaw” method that you can use to help your rolls rise in a fraction of the time. Here is what you do:
- Spray pan with cooking spray
- Put rolls in the pan and cover with plastic wrap that as been sprayed with cooking spray
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees F and turn off immediately
- Boil 2 quarts of water and place in a pan in the bottom of the oven
- Put rolls in oven and allow to rise
You can also put them in to your Instant Pot with a glass lid and use the yogurt setting to help them rise. However, make sure the dough balls don’t run together!
We do think the best results for these rolls come from a slower rise, but we know that sometimes you need things to be done a little more quickly! They will still turn out delicious!
Instructions
- Place a piece of parchment paper inside the basket of your Air Fryer
- Put 12 frozen dough balls evenly spaced on top of the parchment paper
- Let rise at room temperature according to package instructions (mine took about five hours at room temperature, though it can take 3-8 hours depending on the method) – cover with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel.
- Before cooking, brush rolls with melted butter and a sprinkle of salt
- Air fry at 360 degrees for 5 minutes
- Brush with more butter
- Cook for another couple of minutes (1-2 minutes should be fine!)
- Serve immediately
What should I do if my rolls don’t rise?
If your rolls don’t seem to be rising, they might have been in the freezer too long or you don’t have them rising in a warm place. You can move them to a warmer environment or even cover them with a plastic wrap or a dish towel. This will help them to rise more effectively.
Are frozen rolls yeast rolls?
Yes, they are!
Why did my rolls come out doughy?
If your rolls came out doughy, it’s likely that they just didn’t get cooked long enough. THey are done when the tops are browned and the bottom start to brown as well.
What can I serve these rolls with?
These air fryer Rhodes Rolls are delicious served with just about any meal. Try them with roasted chicken or pork, grilled steak, or even just a simple green salad. They make a great side dish for any occasion from Sunday dinner to a holiday dinner.

You can do this, just make sure you spray the Air fryer basket. Be aware that they might have some weird indents in the bottom from the holes in the basket as well.
Can you put Rhodes Rolls in the Air Fryer?
Yes! This is a great way to cook frozen rolls without using an oven. All you need is an air fryer and some frozen Rhodes rolls.
Can I use an aluminum baking tin in the Air Fryer?
We haven’t tried this, and aluminum is controversial in the Air Fryer. However, if you have determined you are okay with cooking with aluminum in the air fryer, you should be able to do this, depending on the size of your air fryer.
Can I put a glass dish in the Air fryer instead of parchment paper?
No, you should not put a glass dish in the air fryer. Parchment paper is necessary in order to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
Can I use aluminum foil instead of parchment paper?
There is a lot of debate on whether or not you can use aluminum foil in the Air Fryer. It seems like the general consensus is that you can, but htere are better and healthier options. However, if you are in a pinch, you can do this.
What is the best way to reheat leftover rolls?
The best way to reheat leftover rolls is in the air fryer. Just place them in the air fryer basket and cook for a few minutes until they are warm throughout. You can also reheat them in the oven, but be sure to wrap them in foil so that they don’t dry out.

I just made these for the first time. I wanted buns for pulled pork sandwiches. I let them thaw in a round cake pan that fit inside my air fryer. Brushed the buns with butter, baked them for 6 minutes at 360. Turned them over and since they were white on the bottom I brushed them with butter and baked for 2 more minutes. I covered them with foil to keep them soft as we won’t eat for another two hours.
I hope you loved them!
