These Italian Cheese breadsticks are based on the delicious copycat recipe of Little Caesars Italian Cheese Breadsticks. This recipe features simple ingredients so you can make this popular dish anytime you want!
While Little Caesars pizza isn’t my go-to choice for pizza, I absolutely LOVE their cheesy bread. We actually did a taste test to find the best pizza place cheese bread a while ago, and it won by a long shot.
Ever since, I have been wanting to make a copy cat recipe – but I knew it had to be good. I checked out different recipes online, but none of them actually looked or sounding like the cheesy Italian bread that I’ve come to love. I knew it would have to have the buttery crust, the cheesy top, and the amazing seasoning blend similar to what Little Caesar’s uses.
If you’ve never had their cheesy bread – you are missing out. It’s definitely not their crazy bread, but it’s thick, cheesy, and oh so delicious.
What type of cheese do you use for this recipe?
For this recipe, we used a package Kroger shredded pizza cheese. This blend has mozzarella cheese, provolone, parmesan cheese – one package of cheese was all we needed.
You could also use a blend of Italian cheese blend of redded cheeses, or probably even low moisture part-skim mozzarella and parmesan.
Can this rise in the Instant Pot?
Sure! We love using our Instant Pot to help with bread rising. Just put it on the yogurt setting, place a glass lid on top, and let it rise until doubled.
What type of sauce do you serve with this?
The sauce that Little Caesar’s serves with it is a chunky pizza sauce. You could make your own or use a store bought favorite marinara sauce, but we just used some store-bought sauce that was delicious. I definitely think you must use something with chunks of tomatoes though!
What do you bake these in?
While it might sense to use a cookie sheet for cheese sticks, these are thick – and for that reason, we recommend using a glass 9×13 inch pan. It is essential!
Can I use melted butter?
I would definitely make sure you use softened butter for the breadsticks.

What is the seasoning that Little Caesar uses?
They have a fantastic seasoning blend that has various herbs in it – we have provided the ingredients for, what we feel, is a pretty close copycat. It’s a pretty quick recipe to make, however, you can use any of your favorite brands of Italian seasoning mix, and I think it will turn out well.
How long do these Italian cheese breadsticks last?
They are best when served warm, but you can keep them in an air-tight container in the fridge for a few days afterward.
Is this the same as the Crazy Bread Recipe?
Nope – this is totally different! It has a thicker crust, a buttery sauce on top, and it’s really just a very different dish. It almost feels like pizza without sauce! We absolutely love it though, and we think you will, too.
How do the edges of the crust get so crispy?
Rubbing the pan down generously with butter helps with that – don’t skip on this!
Can I freeze the dough?
I don’t think you should have a problem with freezing the dough for this recipe. I wouldn’t suggest preparing the whole dish before freezing, but you could easily freeze the dough, defrost when ready, and then assemble.
