Why is it called pommes frites?

“Pommes Frites” is a french term. However, it may not mean what you think it does if you translate each word individually.

“Pommes” in French means “Apples,” and “Frites” means “Fries.” But this certainly is not a recipe for Apple Fries.

When you combine the words, “Pommes Frites” translates to “French Fries.”

What is the difference between fries and frites?

Pommes frites are usually double-fried in animal fat, resulting in a fluffier inside and a crispier outside texture. Whereas french fries are usually fried in oil and can vary in texture based on cook time, thickness, etc.

You don’t need to worry about the technicalities for this recipe. The air fryer does most of the work for you. All you need to do is enjoy your finished product.

What Air Fryer Do You Use?

I have two air fryers, but the one I use the most is the Cosori Large XL. I LOVE it! Once you start air frying, you want one that fries a lot of extra!
