Instant Pot Meatballs
Making frozen meatballs into a delicious meal has always been one of my favorite go-to dinner ideas.
Frozen meatballs in your Instant Pot is another game-changer. There have been many times when the day has been so busy.
With kids in school, sports, running a business and making time for family and friends sometimes what I’m making for dinner falls on the bottom of the totem pole.
Yet, we all have to eat! This is why Instant Pot Meatballs will become your best friend, too.
One of my favorites is this sweet and sour type version that my whole family loves.
The flavors are unbeatable and seriously make my taste buds dance around in my mouth.
I don’t think my kids ever turned the nose up to this meal!
What Can I Serve With This?
I love serving this dish with rice.
I think the extra juice makes the rice taste especially good.
You could cook jasmine, long-grain, white, brown, basmati- basically any type of rice that you like!
But there are other alternatives as well.
These meatballs are always good alongside any veggie.
Here is a few of our favorite vegetables that would taste delicious alongside this dish.
Other yummy ideas could include:
- Honey Bread
- Baked Potatoes
- Easy Parmesan Bread Sticks
- Gluten-Free Corn Bread
Frozen Meatballs in Instant Pot
It is so easy to cook meatballs in the Instant Pot. We love using them in this recipe, but you can cook them with your favorite spaghetti sauce or even just with a little bit of water.
Whatever you do, here are the basics of cooking frozen meatballs in the Instant Pot:
- 1 cup of liquid of some kind
- Manual high pressure for five minutes
- Quick pressure release
Substitutions
If you don’t have chili sauce there are a few alternatives. It may not come out tasting exactly the same- but it will do the trick.
In place of chili sauce, you could use chili paste, ketchup, or any kind of BBQ sauce. You could add red pepper flakes to give it an added kick.
I always use frozen meatballs but you could make your own. I would cook them thoroughly before mixing them with the sauce.
I don’t recommend swapping the grape jelly for anything else. It really is what gives it the stellar taste. However, you can always give it a try. If you do- let me know what you think!
FAQ
Can I reheat my food in an instant pot? Yes, by using the steam function. Put the food in the Instant Pot. Put the regular lid on, and put the venting knob in the sealing position. Press the Steam button. Continue to adjust the time up or down as needed.
Can you overcook meatballs in the sauce? They most like won’t end up overcooked as long as they are left simmering on a low temperature and the meatballs aren’t overcooked before entering the sauce.
How do I cook precooked meatballs in the oven? Preheat oven to 350 degrees and then place the desired amount of frozen meatballs in a baking dish or pan. Heat for about 20-25 minutes.
What meatballs do you use? We personally love the Kirkland brand of meatballs, and they taste great. However, you can really use any variety or brand that you want.

I just made these & they are AWESOME! I substituted the chili sauce for bbq because my husband can’t take the spicy heat, will definitely be making these again! 5 Star recipe!
Great! I’m so glad you loved them! Thank you for sharing 🙂
I much prefer using jellied cranberry sauce instead of grape jelly – still sweet enough to balance the chili sauce, but I always get raves when I serve this variation of the classic party meatballs.
What an awesome idea. I love it! I’m definitely going to try that.
We use jellied cranberry, chili sauce and jalapeño jelly. Gives it a little kick but isn’t too sweet.
Sounds delicious!
