Easy Fresh Peach Salsa Recipe
Whether you have millions of peaches sitting in your kitchen or you just enjoy a good peach now and again, this fresh peach salsa will be a recipe that you want to make over and over again. It’s perfect for dipping with chips or topping fish, tacos, and chicken with!
It’s summertime, which always means more peaches than I know what to do with!
Peach salsa has become a go-to recipe in my house because it’s fresh, satisfying, and so easy to make. You can also try to grill your peaches to add a twist to the fruit.
The sweet, soft peaches pair so well with the spicy and crunchy veggies. It’s a great alternative to a more traditional tomato-based salsa recipe!
How to Use Peach Salsa
If you’ve never had peach salsa, try this recipe right now! It’s that good. It’s fresh, it’s easy, it’s a fun mashup for summer.
It goes perfectly with fish or chicken tacos, on grilled pork or chicken, over a block of softened cream cheese with crackers, or of course, with tortilla chips! I love it on an open face quesadilla.
I put so much salsa on there I can hardly find my tortilla, and that’s just perfection in my book.
How long does this recipe stay fresh?
We all know peaches turn an unsightly brown almost as soon as they’re peeled. It doesn’t alter the taste significantly, but is unappealing.
The acid from the lime juice and diced onions protect the peaches from turning brown right away.
The recipe will keep in the fridge for about two solid days before it starts to turn brown, if you haven’t finished it off by then.
But, this is definitely a make and serve recipe, not something you want to make days in advance.
What if I want to mix it up? Is the recipe flexible?
This recipe is a basic recipe that will always taste great, but if you feel like mixing it up, you can’t go wrong. I vary the spiciness with the onions and jalapeños, especially if little ones are going to eat it.
And if I don’t have something like tomatoes, I still make it and just add red bell peppers. It’s up to you, so feel free to modify the ingredients for your preferences.
Ingredients
- 3-4 peaches, peeled and cut into small bite size pieces
- 2-3 Roma tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 cup white or purple onion, diced
- 1-2 jalapeños, seeded and diced
- juice of one lime
- 1/2 bunch cilantro, about 1/4 cup diced
- dash of salt, optional, to taste
Instructions
Peel and dice the peaches. If you want to learn how to blanch and peel peaches quickly, check out this article. Prepare all other ingredients. Toss to combine, making sure lime juice is distributed evenly.
If your peaches are particularly juicy, you can toss them with one tablespoon sugar and the lime juice and let them sit while preparing the rest of the ingredients.
The sugar helps release the juice, and the lime prevents untimely browning of the fruit. Before you toss them in with everything else, just strain the liquid.
Serve immediately with chips, or however you plan to enjoy it. Leftovers can be stored covered in the fridge for two days, or until the peaches turn brown and soft.
