We love a good green salsa recipe, and this is one of our favorite recipes. It’s filled with fresh ingredients, and natural flavor and is one of our favorite side dishes. Whether we are dipping chips or serving it with a meal, it is the best way to enjoy avocados! It has the simple ingredients of your favorite restaurant guacamole combined with the components of a delicious green sauce, which results in a great taste and popular dish.

A few months ago, my brother texted me about a fantastic guacamole salsa he had purchased from the grocery store. He said I HAD to come up with my version, so I immediately got to work. I also bought some from the store and came up with a delicious recipe based on what we ate.

This is probably one of our family’s favorite dips now. It has the distinctive creamy flavor of guacamole combined with the juiciness of tomatillos – with just a little spice from the jalapenos. It’s effortless to throw together (and a great way to use some of those soft avocados before they go bad!)

Ingredients:

tomatillos and avocados
  • 2 small avocado
  • 5 tomatillos
  • 1 jalapeno, deseeded
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp minced garlic (you may use garlic powder if that’s all you have)
  • 1 tsp lime juice

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450
  2. Remove husks from tomatillos and wash stickiness away.
  3. Place tomatillos and jalapenos on a baking sheet
  4. Roast for 15 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven – cut jalapeno in half and remove seeds
  6. Add avocados, jalapeno, tomatillo, minced garlic, and lime juice to a food processor.
  7. Process until desired consistency – add salt to taste and an additional squeeze of lime if needed.

The thing about avocado salsa is that you can prepare it in large quantity and store it for later use. Place it in an airtight container or container and store it in the refrigerator. You can also cover it with plastic wrap, but it may not stay as fresh. Use a clean, dry spoon for scooping out every time, and it will last for up to 15 days in the refrigerator.

Place the bags in the freezer, and they will stay fresh for up to a month. Whenever you feel like enjoying the salsa, take it out of the freezer and let it thaw.
