Easy Air Fryer Frozen French Fries
French fries are a favorite side dish for many – and they are even better when you make them in the Air Fryer. This simple technique will change the way you view french fries forever!
This recipe is a simple way to get restaurant-quality french fries in just minutes with a fraction of the work! The best part about it? You can cook them in your air fryer. Add a little sauce and this will become a dinner menu must-have.
Ingredients
- 16 ounces frozen French Fries
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil of choice

- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F
- Remove the French Fries from the bag and empty into a medium to large bowl
- Pour or spray one teaspoon cooking oil over the top of the French Fries and toss the fries to coat them with the oil, then sprinkle with salt.
- Place an even layer of fries into the air fryer tray
- Cook the fries at 380°F for between 8-15 minutes (depending on the type of fry – see below)
- Shake them part way through the cooking process
- While the fries are cooking, make any seasoning mixes or toppings that you’d like to use (if desired)
- When the fries are finished cooking, remove the fries and place on a lined baking sheet.
- Sprinkle any seasoning mixture over the top of the fries
- Use a spatula or tongs to serve
- Enjoy!!!

The amount of time you’ll cook your french fries for will vary depending on the brand and style of french fry you are working with. Below are starting times for cooking – you may need to add more time depending on the level of crispiness.
- Shoestring Fries: 8 minutes
- House Cut Fries: 10 minutes
- Crinkle Cut Fries: 10 minutes
- Waffle Fries: 11 minutes
- Regular Cut: 10 minutes
- Steak House Style: 12 minutes
- Sweet Potato Fries: 15 minutes
Tips for Success
- Use an oil sprayer to coat your french fries.
- Use an air fryer parchment paper cover for less mess
- Shake the basket partway through for a more even cook
- For bags of fries larger than 16 ounces, you’ll likely have to cook the fries in batches (depending on the size of your air fryer)
- Use avocado oil for a lighter flavor
